About Passport to Plate

I'm Nick, and I plan trips around what I want to eat

Passport to Plate started because I have always believed the best meals find you when you are not looking for them. I do my homework, but I never let a list run my trip. Most of my favorite spots have come from turning down the wrong street at the right time.

This is where I keep all of that. Honestly, I started it as a way to log the places I have been so I could actually remember them. If it helps you find something great too, even better.

Started because every other guide felt like it was written by someone who never actually ate there

I started Passport to Plate because I wanted something more personal than a generic travel guide and more useful than a list written by someone who clearly never showed up hungry and just started walking.

I wanted a place that felt like getting recommendations from a real person. Someone excited, a little obsessive, and very willing to tell you which meal is worth rearranging your whole day for.

That is pretty much me.

I’ve now traveled to 18 countries and 34 cities. Food is always the center of it. The meals, the wine, the places you don’t want to leave.

So that is what this blog is built around. Not everything. Just the places, dishes, and cities that feel worth your time.

What I care about

I like food that feels memorable, not just good on camera

Taste first

I am not here to recommend every restaurant in a city. I am here to help you eat really well when you get there.

Personal, not corporate

I care about whether I would go back, whether I would tell a friend to go, and whether a place is actually worth your time.

Useful over overwhelming

Some trips are built around Michelin spots and long dinners. Some are built around cheap noodles, market snacks, and late-night cravings. The best ones usually have both.

If you love planning trips around food, we'll probably get along

If you are here because you are plotting your next meal, your next city, or your next excuse to book a flight, welcome. You are exactly who I made this for.

Say hi, ask a question, or just talk food. I'm always happy to hear from people who eat the way I do.
