This is the hotel I stayed at in Barcelona, and I'd book it again without thinking twice. A great location in the Gothic Quarter, with restaurants, coffee shops, and wine bars all around the area. If you want to know where to eat nearby, I rounded up my favorites in my Barcelona food guide.

If you want one easy, central base for a first trip to Barcelona, this is it: a boutique-feeling stay in the Gothic Quarter, a short walk from morning coffee, tapas, the markets, and most of the sights.
The Kimpton did not disappoint on my trip. It is on a quiet pedestrian street in the Gothic Quarter, central enough to walk pretty much everywhere but tucked off the main streets so away from the noise. The Cathedral, El Born and Santa Maria del Mar are all a few minutes away from the hotel. Barely touched the metro the whole time.
Mornings were easy. There's a little café off the lobby for coffee to get the day started. The room was warm and kind of apartment-feeling which I loved.
The rooftop is what sells it though. Small pool and a bar up top with the Cathedral and Montjuïc in view, and it became the spot I'd go to kill an hour between a long lunch and dinner. For a first trip to Barcelona I was very happy with this hotel and their top tier service, I'd book it again without thinking about it.
Two other ways to narrow down where to stay, depending on whether you care more about the hotel itself or the neighborhood around it.
Design-led hotels, rooftop pools, and five-star rooms worth the splurge.
The best neighborhoods to base yourself for walkable food, sights, and nights out.
If you are here because you are plotting your next meal, your next city, or your next excuse to book a flight, welcome. You are exactly who I made this for.
Say hi, ask a question, or just talk food. I'm always happy to hear from people who eat the way I do.
